Spain / Barcelona  - Passport/Visa requirents

Most people living in Europe do not require a visa to visit Barcelona or Spain in general, some citizens of certain countries do not even require a passport, just a national ID card will do, though I know of people who have tried this and have been stopped and questioned not only entering Barcelona but a few other European cities also. So to be on the safe side best present your passport for less hassle at passport control.

If born in or have a European passport from any of the 27 EU member states you are allowed

come and go as you please.

Spain has a special agreement with the following countries Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden you you are a citizen of one of the above countries you do not need a passport.

An official national ID card will be sufficient.

Citizens from the other EU member states must carry a valid passport to enter Spain. These are the United kingdom, Ireland and all the new EU member states who joined in 2004 Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia as well as Romania and Bulgaria who joined in 2007.

Spain visas for non-Europeans

Citizens of the following non-European countries  do not need a visa to enter Spain and stay for  for less than 90 days, only a valid passport is required., Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela.

If you are from any of these countries and wish to stay for longer than three months you must

get the correct visa.
